Our 65th lunch was an over-riding success with more than 440 women attending. We were delighted to welcome HRH the Duchess of Edinburgh as our honoured guest at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow. More than £27,000 was raised for Endometriosis UK.
HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh was introduced to selected guests and presented the star prize of a pair of antique diamond and pearl earrings kindly donated by Joseph Bonnar Jewellers from Edinburgh.
The three speakers – Consultant gynaecologist and clinical lead for Endometriosis Dr Kirsty Munro, Founder and Exec Chair of the HALO Urban Regeneration Co Dr Marie Macklin and Principal and Vice-Chancellor Napier University and vet Prof Andrea Nolan – entertained and informed the guests of their life journeys and how they had ‘Never Given Up’, which was this year’s theme.
As well as raising much needed funds for Endometriosis UK to expand its services in Scotland, the lunch increased awareness of this terrible condition. With 1 in 10 women suffering from the disease many are left unsupported with chronic pain and debilitating symptoms. There is no cure and the negative impact on lives can be huge.
